        Caldecott Medal Winners
    (As of: 22-Jun-2004)

Established in 1937, the Caldecott Medal is awarded annually to the illustrator of the most distinguished children's picture book published in the United States during the previous year. The award is named in honor of Randolph J. Caldecott, a famous nineteenth-century English illustrator. The award is named by the Newbery Medal Committee, which also selects winners for the Newbery Medal. Both awards are sponsored by American Library Association. Shown below are winners of the Caldecott Medal since 1980.
